Volunteering with Jerusalem House
Jerusalem House is a great place to volunteer. We offer volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups. Individuals are required to submit a complete volunteer application.

Opportunities for Individuals
Activities Coordinator
Schedules and leads on and off-site recreational activities for residents. Assists with special events such as HeartLight Halloween, AIDS Walk, and holiday activities.

Clothes Closet Coordinator
Sorts and organizes clothing and household goods donations. Maintains tidiness of clothes closet.

Gardener
Helps plant and maintain flower, vegetable, and herb gardens.

General
This volunteer is assigned a designated facility at a regularly scheduled time to help out as needed.

Hospitality Volunteer
Welcomes and orients new residents and serves as an informational resource. Visits residents in the hospital, and provides support to sick residents or those returning from the hospital.

House Assistant
Conducts receptionist duties such as answering phones, assisting with mailings, greeting and directing visitors.

Maintenance
Maintains the physical appearance of the residential facility and grounds. Duties include yard work and small in-house repairs.

Partner
Forges a mutually rewarding one-on-one friendship with a resident. Partners make telephone contact weekly and conduct face-to-face activities twice monthly.

Resource Assistant
Works closely with one to two residents to help identify and achieve service plan goals. Resource assistants may provide guidance in a group setting for residents working on a common goal.

Transportation
Provides transportation to medical appointments, the pharmacy, bank, grocery store, etc.

Childcare Provider
Supervises and cares for young children during meetings and other scheduled events.

Girl Scout Troop Leader/Assistant
Assists with troop meetings, field trips, and activities.

Camp Fire Leader/Assistant
Assists with troop meetings, field trips and activities

Tutor
Creates and nurtures a friendship with a Jerusalem House family.
Provides educational support to residents. May assist with homework, basic skills, computer play, reading, GED preparation, job readiness, etc.

Office Administration
Assists Jerusalem House with administrative needs such as assembling direct mail campaigns and special events.
