Buckhead/Cascade Links Past Chapter President Judge Gail Tusan Washington Talks About Kara’s Kloset |
For more than twenty years, the Buckhead/Cascade Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has been a loyal friend to Jerusalem House. One of their first major endeavors was to furnish the Family Program when it opened back in 1997, creating beautiful environments for the women and children who found homes there.
But that was just the beginning! Later on, they funded a meditation room. Through the years, these generous women have offered structured programming and activities to residents to encourage healthy living. They have been there for the Family Program mothers and children to continually lend their support through various in-kind donations of school supplies, food, and clothing.
This year, the Links embarked on a very special project called “Kara’s Kloset,” in honor of Kara Thompson. Kara was a member of the Jerusalem House Board of Directors and a dedicated Links member who passed away in 2019. In tribute to her memory, the Links adopted the Family Program clothes closet, where suitable donations have always been stored in anticipation of the formerly homeless mothers’ needs.
Funding a complete renovation, this dedicated group of women made possible a whole new closet design, making the space beautiful and more functional, with additional shelving and dressers. To top off this tremendous act of service, the Links members donated some of their own clothing, along with several pieces of Kara’s. Over the next couple of months Links members will be putting on the finishing touches and will culminate their efforts with an official dedication.
We are so grateful for these amazing women and their dedication to our community!
The Buckhead/Cascade Chapter of the Links, Incorporated and Jerusalem House would like to specially thank The Home Depot for donating the carpet for the new closet.
